Job Title: Financial Controller

RecruitmentPlus on behalf of our client who are a successful and established engineering / manufacturing organisation and who are now expanding are seeking an experienced Financial Controller who wants to grow with them. Ideally, the successful Financial Controller will have 5+ years experience and the desire to build their own financial team over time.

They are looking for a motivated, confident and results-driven professional who enjoys strategic planning to contribute to positive revenue and financial growth. The other pillars of the role will be formulating sound financial strategies, implementing proper internal controls, achieving organisational targets and developing financial plans that support the organisational strategy.

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA)

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

  • Proficiency in accounting software (experience with INTACT is desirable)

  • Payroll experience

  • Ambitious, confident and professional individual with strong communication, organisational, analytical and management skills

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills

  • Creative & innovative individual with a strong ability to identify opportunities to improve company processes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts

  • Sales, margin and operating expense analysis.

  • Planning, forecasting and analysis of operating cost

  • Responsible for all financial reporting

  • Project P&L reporting.

  • Implementing and monitoring KPIs across each operating cost centre

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a strong financial control environment, including risk management systems and secure payment systems

  • Annual budgeting

  • Profit and cashflow forecasting

  • Monitoring operational cashflow

  • Detailed variance analysis reporting and commentary

  • Financial analysis of potential acquisitions

  • Support the Directors with detailed financial analysis and other ad hoc financial requests

  • Develop a finance team to support the growth aspirations of the business

  • Direct and mentor the work of others within the finance team

  • Work collaboratively with other areas and divisions of the business to ensure delivery of an integrated approach to business objectives

  • Administering monthly payroll

  • Submission of tax returns (PAYE, VAT etc)

  • Working with auditors and other outside advisors to ensure statutory and tax compliance

  • Working to tight deadlines and the ability to work on your own initiative, offering flexibility during anticipated busy periods (month end/year end etc.)
