Job Title: Nurses – All Disciplines

STAFF NURSE – PRIVATE CLINIC DUBLIN 18 – €DOE

Job Title: Ophthalmic Nurse

Start date: TBC

 

Working hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week. 8 hour shifts with 30-minute lunch break. Monday – Friday with 1-2 Saturdays per month. Saturdays are rotated and time in lieu is given for Saturdays worked. The Clinic is closed on Bank Holidays.

Annual leave: 22 days Annual Leave. 1 additional day of leave for employee‘s birthday. Service days accrued for future leave years (applicable after completing 1 full calendar year of service)

Contract: Maternity cover 8 months (may go perm)

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience and qualifications

 

Description of the role:

 

My client requires the support of a multidisciplinary 24 person team to clinically assess patients. Appointment types include preoperative evaluations, post operative appointments, general appointments and surgical appointments.

Duties would be divided into three subcategories;

  • Clinical duties and responsibilities

  • Working as part of the Nursing/ Technician team to perform diagnostic testing on patients as part of clinical work ups for consultations at the Clinic.

  • Working as part of the Nursing/ Technician team to complete virtual consultations with patients to capture motivations for surgery, medical history, visual needs etc prior to their consultation with the Surgeon.

Theatre duties and responsibilities

  • Scrubbing for surgery procedures performed in the dedicated theatre at the clinic

  • Scrubbing for IOL procedures performed in the dedicated theatre at the clinic

  • Management of patients on the day of surgery (consent discussion, medication management, counselling on postoperative instructions, completion of slit lamp examinations as part of discharging patients)

  • Assist the Surgeon in theatre (off site at Beacon Hospital) for procedures. Assist with the documentation of procedures, checking correct IOLs available etc.

Administrative duties and responsibilities

  • Answering patient queries via phone call/ email

  • Assist with planning procedures by calculating IOLs to be used by the Surgeon during the procedure

 

Requirements:

  • Active NMBI registration (RGN)

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong service ethic

  • An interest in Clinical Research would be an advantage though not essential
