R&D Mechanical Technician – Cavan – S010887

RecruitmentPlus on behalf of our client have an excellent opportunity to join the team as an R&D Mechanical Technician. This will be a hands-on, varied role within the specialised research and development facility based in Kingscourt, Co. Cavan.

The successful candidate will work closely with a team of Engineers on projects, building rigs/prototypes, recording data, problem solving while also assisting with facility maintenance.

To be successful in this role you will come from a qualified fitter or engineering background, experience with cladding, fabrication or welding is advantageous. You will also have good IT skills to input accurate data and be an excellent communicator, enjoy responsibility with a flexible, team-orientated mindset.

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: €30 – €50k DOE

Role / Core Responsibilities:

• Preparation of test samples

• Building test rigs

• Calibration of test equipment

• Analyse and record test data

• Work effectively in conjunction with engineers and other technicians

• Provide sensible feedback on test performance

• Problem solving

• Draw up excel/word technical reports

• Fabricating and machining when required

• Maintenance tasks throughout the facility

• Loading and unloading deliveries by forklift

• Operating in compliance with ISO 37301, 9001, the company handbook and Code of Conduct

Requirements:

• Qualified fitter or Level 7 in Engineering discipline

• PC Literate in Microsoft word, excel

• Hands on practical experience ideally with roof/wall cladding systems

• Working at heights

• Working with hand tools, saws, drills, scissors lifts, forklifts, pick-up truck

• Knowledge of test equipment

• Good communication skills

• Ability to work safely and apply good housekeeping in all areas of work
