RecruitmentPlus are delighted to be working in partnership with the second largest distillery in Ireland to recruit for the position of Trainee Distiller for their distillery based in Dundalk, Co. Louth.

This is a growing organisation operating on 24/7 basis and includes a range of Fitters, Engineers, Scientists and Distillers. They operate to international quality and safety management systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 22000).

The role is initially offered on a six month full-time temporary basis with the view to permanency, as such it is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to upskill and build a career with a leading employer in a specialised industry and is open to candidates with various skill sets. Full onsite training will be provided.

Responsibilities:

The Trainee Distiller performs all production processes and requires a self-directed person with technical and people skills. The operator will be cross-trained in all aspects of the distillery and brewhouse and is expected to have the ability to complete the job at hand in a safe, efficient, and quality-oriented manner. The Trainee Distiller is also expected to maintain equipment, trouble-shoot problems, follow directions and procedures, possess a positive attitude in the presence of the public and work well as part of a team while also showing initiative when working alone.

Working hours:

Monday to Friday rotational shift patterns 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am, the possibility of weekend shift cover may be required therefore flexibility is required. Once fully trained, there is an option to move to weekend shift.

Requirements:

• Excellent attention to detail

• Good documentation practice/record keeping

• Good IT Skills with the ability to learn new systems

• Technical and process minded in order to understand and follow production processes

• Responsibility minded, with the ability to work off own initiative, troubleshoot problems and react quickly to any issues that arise

• Safety conscious and physically fit in order to carry out all aspects of the role including sample gathering and cleaning duties

• Quality minded to ensure final product meets requirements

• A team player with flexibility

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ideally 1 years experience in a related or similar role

Preferred requirements:

• Bachelor‘s degree in science or engineering, Masters in Brewing and Distilling, IBD Diploma/Certificate

• Trained electrician or mechanic

• Previous experience in distillery/brewery/operations and/or processing

• Familiar with HMI-SCADA systems

• Knowledge of the beverage production process
